Ben laughed joyously, a wave of excitement coming over him. If there was one thing he loved to do, it was dance. “Of course you do!” he yelled happily, taking her hand to lead her to the dance floor, where he proceeded to execute a number of moves in time to the beat. He was always extreme and outrageous with the way he moved his body. Because with Ben, it was always either go big, or go home.
Bailey laughed loudly, not at him, but with him. Ben was just so much fun. She loved being around him because he made her feel safe. Happy. And mostly, special. She was never good enough as a kid, always doing something wrong. But around Ben, he never ever complained. It was a welcomed change. Matching her pace with the music, she bobbed and spun and swayed along with him. Bailey was actually an excellent dancer, having taken pop classes in her early teen years.
Ben caught a glimpse of Bailey dancing from the corner of his eye and his smile only grew. “You didn’t tell me you could dance, too!” he yelled over the music. Still, for once, he found himself wanting to dance with her. This was unusual for him. Usually with fast-paced songs, he preferred to dance alone and show off his skill. But the way Bailey was moving was warm and inviting, and he longed to share in her rhythm. He danced his way up to her with a smile and took her hands, moving them alternatively back and forth to the beat as he laughed.
“You didn’t ask.” She waggled her eyebrows flirtatiously and smiled. She liked dancing with him, they synced pretty well. He was able to hold his own with her. Most guys got intimidated and quit eventually, but he was keeping up nicely. She twirled around his finger and then spun into his arm, close to his chest, like they did in movies. “You were right. You’re a dancing master.” She laughed and looked up into his eyes, not really wanting to move away from him. He made her feel so good.
Ben smiled wide as she spun into his arms, overcome with a feeling of warmth. Which made sense, he supposed. He was holding the sun, after all. The music vibrated in his chest, a steady fast-paced metronome that matched the beating of his heart with Bailey so close. “I hate to say I told you so! But you’re not bad, yourself!” he yelled over the music with a small laugh. Looking down at her, he couldn’t help but smile. Constantly his thoughts revolved around how absolutely stunning she looked. All. The. Time. But tonight in particular. The way she looked should be illegal in at least 40 states. She could cause heart attacks on the street. He felt himself being drawn to her lips, the way they lifted up in that beautiful smile of hers. And he wanted to kiss her. The only problem was that he’d never really instigated a kiss before. He’d just reciprocated them. But this girl… She was so absolutely magnetizing and hypnotic, and her pull just wasn’t letting him go. So he leaned down hesitantly - not sure if he was actually even allowed to do this, now that he thought about it - and thus pressed his lips to the soft corner of her mouth, more on her cheek than her lips. Because of course, it was just like Ben to chicken out at the last moment. He pulled back with a nervous laugh and blushing cheeks, admittedly a bit embarrassed at his lack of smoothness.
Words couldn’t describe how Bailey felt as she saw him lean down. She wanted to laugh, cheer, clap, and hurry the kiss up all at the same time. It wasn’t their first kiss, but this time, he was making the first move. It meant that he wanted what she wanted. When he simply kissed her cheek, she laughed, knowing that he was a bit nervous. That was the thing about Ben. He was so unsure when it came to this kind of stuff. It was positively adorable. “You missed silly.” She smiled and used her hand to guide him by the chin so their mouths met. She smiled around the kiss, thrown into a different world. It was like she was in a princess movie. Everything was perfect.
Ben’s face must have been bright enough to put fireworks to shame when he smiled. That’s how he honestly felt when she started to pull him towards her. And then they were kissing again, and somehow this time was even better than the first. It was… Well, it was something. Definitely a lot different from kissing Quinn. Bailey felt like warmth, and as Ben moved his lips with hers, taking a tentative swipe at her bottom lip with his tongue, he discovered that she tasted faintly like strawberries, too. His favorite fruit. Funny how that worked.
Bailey heard someone clear their throat behind her and turned to see who it was. Sitting just a few ways off was Tyler, smiling devilishly with a twinkle in his eye. She laughed and waved at him, looping her arms around Ben. “I want to thank you for coming, Ben. It was really great of you. And your gift is the best. It’ll go with the ice cream machine perfectly!” She gently placed a hand on his face and smiled up at him. She heard the song change to something a bit slower, and her body instinctively began to sway to the steady pace. Was he up for another dance? The unspoken question was easy to read on her face.
Ben didn’t really understand why Bailey pulled away at first, and for one horrifying moment thought he’d done something wrong. Then he realized she was waving at a relative and laughed nervously, blushing in embarrassment. With Bailey’s arms looped around him though, Ben returned the gesture, looping his arms around her waist to hold her close. “No problem, Bailey! As if I could ever turn down an opportunity to go on a date with the sun herself. Pffffft. Unlikely.” He had to laugh at the mention of his gift, though. He sincerely hoped she’d like and get good use out of it. As the music shifted, Ben easily changed his movement to match hers, swaying with her in perfect time. After a minute or so he leaned forward to rest his forehead against her’s, smiling wide. God, she was beautiful. How many times had he thought that tonight?
Ben laughed joyously, a wave of excitement coming over him. People scrambled to and fro as they carried items, relayed messages, and tried to finish their outfits. “We have twenty-five minutes until we begin guys! Come on, let’s keep up the good work!” Bailey had barely a single moment’s rest since eight that morning. The only time she…
Bailey stared at the small machine in his hands. She looked up to him, then at the machine, then back to him. As quickly as her heels would allow her, she raced to give him a hug. He was just so perfect. She had been getting ready to break down over the thought of her parents being together again. She wasn’t sure whether or not she actually wanted it still. She was scared that it would go back to how it was all those years ago. But Ben simply walks in, and without even knowing it, made everything seem a hundred times better. He gave her hope. “Thank you.” She whispered it in his ear and smiled as her head rested on his neck.
Ben wrapped his arms around Bailey slowly and snugly with a smile, pressing his cheek against her head. It felt nice to hold her in his arms like this, her slender frame fitting so well against his lean one. He could definitely get used to it, especially the way that her golden locks felt so soft against his skin, with it’s light, fresh scent drifting easily into Ben’s nose. She smelled of rain and flowers; of grass and honey; of nature and the purest things the world had to offer. It was a scent that comforted and awakened, and that was enough to make Ben crazy in itself. “It’s not a problem, Sunshine. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.” Unable to resist the temptation, he turned his head and placed a small kiss on her hair, giving her back a rub with his hand. “Apparently weddings can be stressful.”
Bailey smiled when he kissed her head. Something about the simple act made her feel warm all over. She couldn’t quite place the feeling. Just… good. “They can be very stressful. Good thing i’m an excellent planner though.” She winked and fixed his tie. She loved how dapper he looked in his suit.It was a good look for him. Made him appear even more intelligent. Tiffany had even said something about it, causing mother and daughter to whisper and giggle. Something they had not done in a long while together. Tyler opened the door and reminded them they only had a few minutes left before the ceremony started. With a sigh, she fiddled with his hair and met his eyes. “Are you ready, Mr. Flint?”
“I can see that!” he said with a laugh, watching her smile as she worked on his tie. “Everything that I could see looked pretty awesome, at least.” A sentence bubbled up to the surface, pushing at Ben’s lips, but for once, he didn’t blurt the words in his head. Somehow, the automatic response of ‘I can only imagine what you’d do for our wedding!’ didn’t seem quite… appropriate. Yet. A year or so in the future, maybe. But that was the problem with Ben. When he fell, he fell fast. And hard. It was probably because all he really wanted in life was to start a family of his own. Good thing inventing and his other hobbies could be done anywhere on Earth. Bailey’s voice broke him from his thoughts, then, and he smiled, preparing to leave her all to soon for his liking. “Ready? So I should go sit down then, right?” he asked, unsure of what he was really supposed to do.
Bailey shook her head and giggled. “No silly. You’re in the wedding. You take my arm like this.” She looped her arm through his and leaned her head on his shoulder. “Then we go walk down the aisle.” She started to lead him out the door, making sure to set her gift down gently on the table. “Then when we get to the end, you kiss my hand and go stand behind Tyler. He’s the one I introduced you to earlier.” She pecked him on the cheek and walked with him down the hallway. “Got it memorized?”
As Bailey led him down the hallway on his arm, Ben couldn’t stop smiling to himself. He was going to be in the wedding? Walking Bailey down the isle? He hadn’t known that. The thought made him almost giddy. But then it also made him nervous. Oh boy. He was going to screw this up. Even Bailey’s kiss on the cheek did nothing to calm him except make his face warm. “Uh… Yeah, I think so. I just don’t want to mess this up for you, you know? You’ve worked so hard on this.” He swallowed as he looked down at her. “Are you sure I’m the right guy for this?”
His insecurity was adorable. She shook her head and smiled fondly. “You’ll be great!” With a steadying breath for herself, she walked under the archway, ready to take on the next step of her life.

Bailey couldn’t stop grinning as she watched her father walk away from her and Ben. Their introduction had gone rather smoothly in her opinion. Scott had been very nice and even used a few of his worst jokes. “Well, that went well.” She turned to wink at Ben. It was the second half of the wedding and everyone had moved to where the dance floor and tables were set up. They had all been fed the huge feast Bailey had ordered and was now either dancing or mingling. Her date was looking a bit red in the face, to her complete amusement. It was cute.
Ben laughed, turning to her. His nerves had dissipated as soon as her father started cracking jokes, which Ben found hilarious, of course. “Your Dad’s awesome!” he said with a bright smile, reaching out for her hand. “I think he really liked me.” He felt proud of this fact, as most parents usually found Ben too loud and annoying, interpreting him as obnoxious. Or maybe Ben had just read her father wrong. “Right? I mean I thought we got along pretty good.” Ben couldn’t stop looking at her, though. Throughout the ceremony - though Ben had to admit he loved watching her parent’s get reunited in such a beautiful way - his gaze would always turn to Bailey, and how wonderful she looked. It was the same with meeting her father or other various people. Ben’s eyes never left her for long. It was as though she was a magnet he couldn’t quite be drawn away from.
“He likes you. I can tell.” She nodded and glanced around the room. Everything had run smoothly so far. There had been no immediate danger of impending chaos yet. So she decided that she would take this moment to relax with her date. That’s what it was all about, right? Celebration? “So, what about those moves you were telling me about? Do I get to see them?” She swayed her hips teasingly and laughed. She was only poking fun, not wanting to make him do anything he didn’t want to. Ben’s comfort was her top priority currently.
